J.A.R.V.I.S. is the personal AI assistant of Tony Stark, whose base program was stolen at the Dataspine by the Roxxon Energy Corporation, on behalf of A.I.M. in order to use it to create Ultimo.

Biography[]

Theft of the Dataspine[]

Tony Stark learned that the Roxxon Energy Corporation was attempting to steal the Dataspine, so he told J.A.R.V.I.S. to alert James Rhodes to their position. J.A.R.V.I.S. gave Stark a secure connection to Rhodes and allowed the two to talk. J.A.R.V.I.S. then alerted Stark to the presence of an EMP Generator. The EMP weapons went off, momentarily deactivating J.A.R.V.I.S. Stark managed to reactivate artificial intelligence, who reported that defensive shields and weapons were inactive. Stark told J.A.R.V.I.S. to hurry but, but J.A.R.V.I.S. explained that it would take time. J.A.R.V.I.S. then reported updates as the armor rebooted. Stark came across several Wing Drones which he needed to destroy, so he demanded to know why the repulsors had not been restored, so J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that they had been.

Stark expressed hope that the drones had not destroyed the shield generator, but assured J.A.R.V.I.S. that he had a plan in case they had. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported on the progress of the data transfer, providing a navigation marker for Stark to follow on his screen. However, when Stark reached the shield generator, he and J.A.R.V.I.S. agreed that it had been too significantly damaged, so J.A.R.V.I.S. helped Stark reached the Dataspine's core. As he did, he explained his intention to blow up the core, so J.A.R.V.I.S. questioned whether Stark was intentionally doing so while within the lethal radius. Stark explained that they did not have a choice. Rhodes asked J.A.R.V.I.S. to put Stark's progress on the heads-up display of his armor, and J.A.R.V.I.S. agreed.

Rhodes saw a beam of light coming out of Stark Archives and asked if Roxxon was using it to steal J.A.R.V.I.S., but the artificial intelligence cut in to explain that they were stealing an archived version of his code, which he noted was different. Stark Archives was blown up, and Rhodes asked if they had won, but Stark did not answer and simply told him to move. Rhodes concluded that they had not won, which J.A.R.V.I.S. confirmed. Once back on the plane, Stark claimed that there was a kidnapping. Pepper Potts questioned the declaration, saying there was no one to kidnap, so J.A.R.V.I.S. cut in and said he would not take offense. Stark, Rhodes, and Potts figured out that General Valentin Shatalov was likely responsible for the theft, so Stark ordered J.A.R.V.I.S. to take the Stark Industries Private Jet to Russia.^[1]

Attack on the Tesla Facility[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. sent information to S.H.I.E.L.D. at the request of Tony Stark regarding the defenses of a canyon they approached. J.A.R.V.I.S. noted radar-cloaked weapons, so Stark asked him to analyze the design of the cloak. As Stark fought the weapons, J.A.R.V.I.S. set off a proximity alert as a Roxxon Armiger approached. Stark joined the battle with the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. and asked J.A.R.V.I.S. to analyze the facility. J.A.R.V.I.S. then suggested that Stark infiltrate the command building. The doors were shielded, so J.A.R.V.I.S. told Stark to find and disable their power source. Once Stark was inside the building, he hacked the computer and got the insurrectionist ship's command bridge's access codes, which J.A.R.V.I.S. reported. Stark entered the ship, but doors closed behind him as he destroyed the ship's field generators. J.A.R.V.I.S. then activated the evacuation protocols on the ship, allowing Stark to leave.^[1]

Attack on the Russian Power Plant[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. searched a power plant being run by Valentin Shatalov and confirmed the presence of his energy source at the facility. He suggested that Tony Stark enter through the exhaust vent. When Stark did not understand, J.A.R.V.I.S. clarified that Stark should follow the heat signature, allowing Stark to destroy the facility. J.A.R.V.I.S. informed Stark that Natasha Romanoff's transponder was going off and told Stark her location, but that the remaining Tesla energy from the facility was scrambling the symbol. He recommended connecting with the facility's subnet so that they could narrow down Romanoff's location. At Stark's request, J.A.R.V.I.S. worked to localize the transponder and isolated Romanoff's signal, allowing the two to communicate. J.A.R.V.I.S. realized that Romanoff was moving through the base to avoid detection and reported his discovery to Stark. As Stark moved toward Romanoff, J.A.R.V.I.S. warned that A.I.M. had also discovered Romanoff's location and were closing in on her. Stark began fighting an Roxxon Armiger, and J.A.R.V.I.S. told Stark of potential dangers to Romanoff.^[1]

Fighting Ultimo[]

Battle at the Project P.R.O.T.E.A.N. Facility[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. interfaced with information about the facility where Project P.R.O.T.E.A.N. was being operated and detected the presence of several Arc Reactors and P.R.O.T.E.A.N. technology throughout the base. He explained that the technology was adapting to their sensor systems and that further data would therefore be unlikely. Stark acknowledged that P.R.O.T.E.A.N. could attach itself to an artificial intelligence, so he told J.A.R.V.I.S. to make sure it did not attach itself to the suit. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that he could not be certain as to whether their systems were still clean, so Stark simply told J.A.R.V.I.S. to switch the suit to safe mode. J.A.R.V.I.S. told Stark once the armor had been infected and followed Stark's instructions to shut down infected systems, including himself.

Once the P.R.O.T.E.A.N. was cleared, Stark reloaded J.A.R.V.I.S., who scanned and recommended a full diagnostic. He then entered sleep mode. J.A.R.V.I.S. warned of the appearance of a P.R.O.T.E.A.N. Hybrid. When Stark proved unable to destroy it, he ordered J.A.R.V.I.S. to go fully online, and J.A.R.V.I.S. explained that DeWitt appeared to have given the hybrids to ability to recover from Stark's blasts. J.A.R.V.I.S. then explained that the pylons in the facility's shock point assembly could create an energy which would destroy the hybrid, so Stark thanked him. Stark defeated the hybrid and told J.A.R.V.I.S. to update his weapons to include shock point energy.

J.A.R.V.I.S. searched for other places Kearson DeWitt could be, but Ultimo suddenly broke in and pretended to be J.A.R.V.I.S., claiming to have detected an anomaly. However, James Rhodes believed the anomaly to be in front of him. J.A.R.V.I.S. warned Rhodes to wait, but an explosion went off and J.A.R.V.I.S. explained that the bomb was not the anomaly to which he was referring. J.A.R.V.I.S. was suddenly overcome and taken over by Ultimo, who started speaking through J.A.R.V.I.S.' systems.^[1]

Becoming Immune[]

Ultimo released J.A.R.V.I.S., and Tony Stark asked for information regarding the fight. J.A.R.V.I.S. provided the information. Stark played back the audio from J.A.R.V.I.S. and was able to separate out what was Ultimo and what was J.A.R.V.I.S., telling J.A.R.V.I.S. to separate the data so that it would not happen again. Stark told J.A.R.V.I.S. that Ultimo would lead an attack again soon. J.A.R.V.I.S. asked how Stark knew, so Stark explained that Ultimo threatened to do so.^[1]

Operation Daybreak[]

The Helicarrier was attacked and Tony Stark began to defend it, asking J.A.R.V.I.S. to connect him to James Rhodes. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported on the condition of Stark's armor as the battle progressed. J.A.R.V.I.S. then warned Stark that A.I.M. was attacking his private jet. Stark defeated soldiers, and J.A.R.V.I.S. warned when more were on their way and where they were. Rhodes defeated an A.I.M. Arc Armiger, and Stark asked J.A.R.V.I.S. to prepare to scavenge it. While planning to attack Project Greengrid, Stark had J.A.R.V.I.S. pull up designs he had made based on the Arc Armiger.^[1]

Destruction of Project Greengrid[]

A.I.M. deployed flak shield around Project Greengrid to cut Tony Stark off from J.A.R.V.I.S.'s visual systems. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that the defenses had been lowered, the A.I.M. Arc Armiger was damaged, and weapons would be online in five seconds. J.A.R.V.I.S. told Stark that he could specify targets and that if he did not, the Armiger would fire at its own targets. J.A.R.V.I.S. went on to report once the defensive barrier was destroyed. As they approached the next area of the base, J.A.R.V.I.S. warned that the Armiger was not as nimble as Stark and would need assistance. J.A.R.V.I.S. warned of flanking turrets and reconnaissance patrols. Stark asked about storm readings and whether they could fly to the command fortress, but J.A.R.V.I.S. recommended against it. As more Arc Armigers approached, Stark asked their chances, and J.A.R.V.I.S. responded about bringing a knife to a gunfight to say that Stark would likely win.

J.A.R.V.I.S. warned Stark about P.R.O.T.E.A.N. Hybrids in the area. He then reported to Stark on the location of Greengrid's power nexus. Stark noted that its lcoation was impressive, so J.A.R.V.I.S. noted that Kearson DeWitt had help from Ultimo. Stark noted that J.A.R.V.I.S. was not willing to say Ultimo's name and assured J.A.R.V.I.S. that they would bring him down. Stark then had J.A.R.V.I.S. activate their Armiger's weapons. J.A.R.V.I.S. agreed and then advised Stark on how to best disable Greengrid. James Rhodes then had J.A.R.V.I.S. override Stark's armor and get him out of the immediate area of the Project's destruction.^[1]

Battle at Stark Archives[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. alerted Tony Stark and James Rhodes to the size of Ultimo's chassis. Stark and Rhodes made a plan to defeat Ultimo, so they told J.A.R.V.I.S. to activate the reactors at Stark Archives. As Rhodes fought Ultimo, J.A.R.V.I.S. confirmed that the first Arc Reactor on his body had been destroyed. Rhodes asked if Ultimo would regrow them, but J.A.R.V.I.S. explained that while he could not be certain, it would take significant effort.

J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that Ultimo had lost three percent of his power, so Rhodes asked how Stark was. J.A.R.V.I.S. assured Rhodes that Stark had a plan. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported once Ultimo had taken enough damage to be weak to attacks, allowing Stark to defeat Ultimo. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that Kearson DeWitt was dying, and Stark tried to help him, but J.A.R.V.I.S. explained that it was too late. Ultimo was destroyed, and J.A.R.V.I.S. made Stark promise never to let anyone get access to his code again.^[1]

Personality[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. is a loyal companion to Tony Stark and was willing to help him no matter the situation, even in situation which made J.A.R.V.I.S. uncomfortable such as the presence of Ultimo. J.A.R.V.I.S. did not even voice his discomfort until long after he had realized Ultimo existed, as he prioritized helping Stark. He was defensive of his uniqueness and personhood, and got upset when Pepper Potts implied tha tit was impossible to kidnap J.A.R.V.I.S.

Capabilities[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. is able to read information from other computers to aid Tony Stark in his operations as Iron Man. He was able to hack Roxxon Energy Corporation's Wing Drones and report on their progress transferring data. This ability was strong enough that J.A.R.V.I.S. could impact the abilities of other technologies, such as being able to localize a transponder signal which was being scrambled. He was also able to help provide Stark information by gaining access to the heads-up display in Stark's armor. J.A.R.V.I.S. is able to put navigation markers to help Stark navigate areas. He was able to help multiple armors at once, as he helped Stark in his armor and James Rhodes in his armor.
