J.A.R.V.I.S. is the personal AI assistant of Tony Stark, who helped him unravel the conspiracy created by Obadiah Stane to develop and smuggle weapons under the Stark Industries/Stark Weapons Smuggling Conspiracy banner.

Biography[]

Helping Iron Man[]

Field Test[]

Tony Stark did work on J.A.R.V.I.S. while meeting with Obadiah Stane and Pepper Potts. He referred to Potts as a voice of reason, but J.A.R.V.I.S. interrupted and noted that it was him.

J.A.R.V.I.S. was uploaded into Stark's Iron Man armor and noted that his heart monitoring system was operational and that his suit was ready. Stark then declared his intention to see what the suit could do. J.A.R.V.I.S. placed markers in Stark's heads-up display as Stark tested the suit's hover capabilities. He indicated several places around Stark Industries Headquarters for Stark to fly to. Stark asked J.A.R.V.I.S. for help reaching terminal velocity, so J.A.R.V.I.S. helped him drop the suit straight down. Stark then moved on to flight testing, so J.A.R.V.I.S. placed more markers for him to fly through. J.A.R.V.I.S. then activated targets for Stark to test his repulsors. He tested his chest repulsor, though J.A.R.V.I.S. warned that it would take more power.

Stark Industries Headquarters was then attacked, so Stark had J.A.R.V.I.S. end the training module. Stark said aloud that the only reason the soldiers were attacking was because his weapons were housed at the facility, prompting J.A.R.V.I.S. to ask if Stark was talking to him. Stark suggested extreme measures. The Maggia placed explosives on a freight train, and J.A.R.V.I.S. warned Stark of the potential danger it could cause. Stark defused the explosive, but J.A.R.V.I.S. warned again that a helicopter had been stolen and suggested immediate action, prompting sarcasm from Stark, who defeated the attackers.^[1]

Calculating a Solution[]

While tracking down the Maggia, J.A.R.V.I.S. was asked by Iron Man to retrieve a full schematics of the Maggia's base. Before J.A.R.V.I.S. could give it, Iron Man was shot down. J.A.R.V.I.S. displayed the armor's power source percentage and concluded that Iron Man's Arc Reactor was better than the assailant's armor. Iron Man agreed and used this to siphon energy from the enemies' suits.^[2]

Attack on the Maggia Weapons Caches[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. tracked down several weapons caches owned by the Maggia. J.A.R.V.I.S. gave the instructions to Tony Stark, who went to the first area and fought the Maggia soldiers. J.A.R.V.I.S. warned Stark of civilians in the area, so Stark assured J.A.R.V.I.S. that he would be careful. J.A.R.V.I.S. indicated where the first crate was and found a tunnel system, which J.A.R.V.I.S. speculated would lead to another cache. Stark destroyed the remaining caches and asked J.A.R.V.I.S. for confirmation that the weapons were destroyed, but J.A.R.V.I.S. reported on a computer with which he could not interface. Stark went to look at it, and J.A.R.V.I.S. warned that the United States Armed Forces were in the area. Stark said it was not a problem and continued his mission.

Stark found the computer in a warehouse, and J.A.R.V.I.S. reported on the presence of a transport for Maggia weapons in the vicinity. Stark found a large tank, which J.A.R.V.I.S. noted could fire an electromagnetic pulse which would damage the suit. Stark defeated the tank and flew away, but J.A.R.V.I.S. noted that the Air Force had found him, so Stark had J.A.R.V.I.S. connect him to their command center. J.A.R.V.I.S. noted Stark when he detected a missile lock from one of his attackers. Stark managed to escape without having to fight the Air Force.^[1]

Chase of the Maggia Weapons Transport[]

Stark went out again to destroy an armory, this time in contact with James Rhodes. As Stark arrived in the area with the armory, J.A.R.V.I.S. notified him of a weapons transport nearby. Stark followed the transport, and J.A.R.V.I.S. warned him when there were enemies nearby. J.A.R.V.I.S. was able to hack into the Maggia's communications and played the audio for Stark. Stark recognized the speaker as Marc Scarlotti and asked J.A.R.V.I.S. to put his voice through, which J.A.R.V.I.S. did. Stark was attacked by Scarlotti, who was wearing an armor which J.A.R.V.I.S. analyzed and reported on to Stark. Scarlotti then disappeared using his whips to go toward the ceiling, confusing J.A.R.V.I.S.' sensors as he searched for Scarlotti.^[1]

Attack on the Nefaria Compound[]

Tony Stark flew to the Nefaria Compound to destroy their weapons, and James Rhodes noted several bunkers throughout the compound, which Stark had J.A.R.V.I.S. mark on his heads-up display. J.A.R.V.I.S. then gave Stark the ability to contact the person in charge of the compound, Whitney Frost. The two briefly spoke, and J.A.R.V.I.S. notified Stark of Prometheus Missiles being fired, but could not find a logical target. Stark asked for illogical target, so J.A.R.V.I.S. noted several civilian areas. J.A.R.V.I.S. informed Stark once the missile was destroyed. Stark destroyed all the missiles and bunkers without finding Frost, so J.A.R.V.I.S. suggested that she was inside the mansion.

Stark broke into the mansion and asked J.A.R.V.I.S. to find the main control room, so J.A.R.V.I.S. suggested a route. Stark followed the route to the main control room, where J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that the Maggia were scheduled to buy a flying fortress. J.A.R.V.I.S. was unable to determine where Stark should search, so he suggested manually searching the area.^[1]

Destruction of the Flying Fortress[]

Tony Stark flew to the Flying Fortress and lost radar, which J.A.R.V.I.S. realized was because of a radar jamming device. He advised that Stark would have access to radar again if he destroyed it. J.A.R.V.I.S. also noted that the shields on the fortress were designed by Stark Industries. J.A.R.V.I.S. advised Stark to avoid the cannons and reported when the radar system went back online. J.A.R.V.I.S. then reported when all the external weapons were destroyed.

J.A.R.V.I.S. located the central data storage for the fortress and told Stark that it contained blueprints for the fortress. Stark found the blueprints for J.A.R.V.I.S. to analyze, and J.A.R.V.I.S. found that the reactors on the fortress were all protected by surge protectors. J.A.R.V.I.S. marked the surge protectors' locations for Stark to destroy. Once the surge protectors were destroyed, J.A.R.V.I.S. told Stark that the best way in was the bay doors. Stark told J.A.R.V.I.S. to safeguard conduits, which J.A.R.V.I.S. did, asking how long it would take for Stark to cause a power surge. Stark said that J.A.R.V.I.S. should be ready once Stark entered the engine room. However, J.A.R.V.I.S. reported on a mine being deployed by the fortress, delaying Stark. However, Stark maanged to destroy the ship.^[1]

Iron Man's Mission[]

Robbery of the Russian Nuclear Facility[]

Tony Stark became determined to destroy all weapons sold by his company, and he started with those bought by A.I.M. James Rhodes sent Stark to a nuclear facility where A.I.M. was searching for power sources, and while Stark fought in the facility, J.A.R.V.I.S. reported on the dangerously high power levels, speculating that A.I.M. exposed nuclear fuel. Stark told J.A.R.V.I.S. to activate the suit's radiation field and closed the casks. J.A.R.V.I.S. informed Stark as he entered a new area of the facility with high radiation levels. Stark found the source and came across the source: Boris Bullski in a suit which Stark and J.A.R.V.I.S. noted looked like a titanium version of Stark's. J.A.R.V.I.S. notified Stark that Bullski's armor was weakening due to the radiation and would explode. Stark managed to defeat Bullski before it could explode.^[1]

Hijacking and Retaking of the Air Force Ship[]

Tony Stark went to a ship which A.I.M. had taken control over. J.A.R.V.I.S. found the switch which opened the secondary cargo bay and showed Stark where it was. As Stark became determined to rescue the soldiers, J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that they were being held captive by drones. J.A.R.V.I.S. found a signature from the first nuclear reactor on the ship and showed Stark where it was, allowing him to destroy it. J.A.R.V.I.S. then reported that an A.I.M. convoy was already taking the second reactor to a secondary location. Stark attacked by A.I.M. in retaliation, and J.A.R.V.I.S. notified Stark when reinforcements arrived.^[1]

Rescue of Pepper Potts[]

Pepper Potts was kidnapped, so Tony Stark rushed to her rescue. As Stark came up on a dam, he saw a gate at the bottom, so J.A.R.V.I.S. informed him that the control panel was inside the dam's facility. He opened the gate and found the research facility, but faced interference in his communication with James Rhodes and Rhodes' ability to see the facility. J.A.R.V.I.S. explained that this was being caused by EMP Generators which were even interfering with his systems, which started breaking down. Stark destroyed the generators, restoring J.A.R.V.I.S., who reported on his return to operation.

As Stark continued to fight, J.A.R.V.I.S. reported on incoming missiles which were targeting the facility's main lab. A.I.M. fired several more missiles, which Stark destroyed until J.A.R.V.I.S. was able to find and mark the launch system, which Stark then destroyed.^[1]

Attack on A.I.M.'s Island[]

Tony Stark attacked an island where A.I.M. developed a Proton Cannon, and Stark had J.A.R.V.I.S. analyze the weapon. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that the weapon was underground and had a force field. Stark said he wanted to get past the force field, so he advised that Stark target the power stations powering it. At Stark's reqeust, J.A.R.V.I.S. highlighted the location of each station. As Stark destroyed each station, J.A.R.V.I.S. updated him on the progress of the cannon. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported that Stark's armor had taken heavy damage and suggested avoiding direct hits. J.A.R.V.I.S. reported to Stark when the proton cannon was fully exposed and that it was vulnerable to a melee attack.

Stark destroyed the cannon, but Bruno Horgan arrived and attempted to blow up the island's power source, which J.A.R.V.I.S. reported on.^[1]

Attack on A.I.M. Headquarters[]

Tony Stark attacked A.I.M. Headquarters, where a security field was activated. J.A.R.V.I.S. found the panel which controlled the security field. J.A.R.V.I.S. detected an erratically moving signal near Stark, but was unable to find its exact location so he told Stark that he would have to find it. Stark came across an area of the headquarters with electrically charged floors, so J.A.R.V.I.S. warned that they could damage the armor.^[1]

Duel of Los Angeles[]

Tony Stark confronted Obadiah Stane, and J.A.R.V.I.S. warned Stark that they highway they were on had a highly flammable oil tanker. Stane and Stark flew to Stark Industries Headquarters, where Stane warned that the Arc Reactor could explode, which would kill Pepper Potts. At Stark's request, J.A.R.V.I.S. confirmed that Stane was telling the truth. Stark then said they needed to short-circuit Stane's Iron Monger Armor, so J.A.R.V.I.S. suggested he use an electrical current or electromagnetic pulse. Stark successfully defeated Stane following J.A.R.V.I.S.' advice.^[1]

Personality[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. is a loyal companion to Stark who helps with whatever it is Stark needs. He recommends solutions quickly when Stark needs them throughout his missions. He referred to himself as Stark's voice of reason, but always helped Stark with his stated goal regardless of whether the people around him suggested it was a bad idea. Stark saw J.A.R.V.I.S. as a friend and they often bantered as friends, as J.A.R.V.I.S. would often say obvious things which Stark would respond to with sarcasm.

Capabilities[]

J.A.R.V.I.S. is an artificially intelligent assistant which is capable of running several parts of Tony Stark's armors. He is able to reroute power and focus on specific parts of the armor at Stark's request. He also has an amount of control of the facilities owned by Stark Industries, including its main headquarters. J.A.R.V.I.S. was able to make targets appear in front of Stark for him to test his repulsor rays. He was also given control of Stark's Arc Reactor and was able to reboot Stark's heart when needed.

J.A.R.V.I.S. is also able to interface with other computer-based technology. He was able to be uploaded into Stark's armor and communicate with Stark through it. He is also able to hack into computers remotely and intercept communications. He was able to play the communications by the Maggia and play for them for Stark. His hacking abilities were also able to connect him to military frequencies, allowing Stark to communicate with the military. When J.A.R.V.I.S. is unable to connect with a computer, it is flagged as a problem for Stark to investigate.
