Are you curious about the Dr. Sebi alkaline diet food list? Wondering which foods are allowed and which ones are off limits? Keep reading to find out!

Science has proven that a plant-based diet is key to a long and healthy life. But what does that mean? What exactly should you eat? What actually is the Dr. Sebi alkaline diet food list?

What is the Dr. Sebi Diet?

The Dr. Sebi diet is an alkaline plant-based diet developed by Dr. Sebi, a renowned natural herbalist. This alkaline diet involves eating only foods that are alkaline-promoting since they promote health and avoid acidic foods that contribute to disease.

Dr. Sebi food list consists of his nutritional guide, do’s and don’t’s as well as the incorporation of herbal remedies, fasting, detox, eating schedule, and supplementation.

While there is some debate as to whether or not the alkaline diet actually has health benefits, the Dr. Sebi alkaline food list includes a variety of nutrient-rich and healthy foods.

The Dr. Sebi Cell Food List

The Dr. Sebi alkaline diet food list, also called the Dr. Sebi cell food list or the Dr. Sebi electric food list is a list of strictly plant-based alkaline foods approved by Dr. Sebi. Dr. Sebi recommended list of foods are natural, non-hybrid, non-GMO, seeded fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, and nuts.

These Dr. Sebi cell foods expels mucus from the cells since they work to do this on the cellular, and intra-cellular level.

The Dr. Sebi Approved food list expels mucus, promotes alkaline body balance, and helps detox and revitalize the body.

The Dr. Sebi alkaline food list is a list of approved natural, plant-based foods that promotes good health by following an alkaline diet. The foods on the list are mainly fruits and vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds and exclude animal foods, processed hybrid and GMO food products.

Now, we know what the list entails, what actually is an alkaline diet?

The alkaline diet entails eating foods that will maintain a healthy alkaline balance in the body. This means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, as well as avoiding acidic foods such as meats, dairy, and processed foods.

Related: Who is an Alkaline Vegan?

The alkaline diet is based on the premise that disease can only thrive in an acidic environment. Our bodies works to maintain a slightly alkaline pH environment (7.4 pH). This is the optimal pH that promotes health and prevents disease.

However, when the body and blood becomes acidic, everything goes crazy with chronic inflammation, and consequently DIS-EASE.

We should know that our bodies are optimally in constant homeostasis. When this homeostatic balance is compromised, the body sends stress signals to the brain. And so, when our bodies become too acidic (chronic acidity over years due to bad diet), the blood will attempt to compensate for this “stress” by borrowing minerals from the bones, and other body tissues to balance its pH.

This results in a chronically drained body that makes the tissues and organs nutritionally leeched, fatigued and overworked.

According to Dr. Sebi:

“disease finds it genesis when and where the mucous membrane has been compromised. For example, if there is excess mucous in the bronchial tubes, the disease is Bronchitis; if it is in the lungs, the disease is Pneumonia; in the pancreatic duct, it is Diabetes; in the joints Arthritis.”

The Dr. Sebi Nutritional Guidelines: 3 Rules

Dr. Sebi developed a special form of the alkaline diet that excludes most plant-based foods that were otherwise regarded as healthy in the mainstream alkaline diet circles.

The foods not approved in his food list are acidic and could create an environment susceptible to disease. Plant-based foods such as carrots, soy, broccoli, beets, spinach, lemon, mint, garlic, etc are excluded since they are hybrids and acidic.

The alkaline foods on his own diet are entirely plant-based alkaline and anti-inflammatory. They can help to cleanse the body and prevent disease.

Dr. Sebi’s rules include:

  1. Drink Spring Water (1 gallon daily):
  2. No microwaving
  3. Eat Only Foods Approved in the Dr. Sebi Food List

Dr. Sebi Mucus Diet

The Dr. Sebi alkaline diet is a mucus-reducing diet. Dr. Sebi says mucus is the cause of disease and that foods that are mucus-forming are acidic foods. Alkaline foods remove mucus and promote health.

Most of the approved alkaline foods are vegan, mostly whole foods plant-based. Although lightly processed foods like certain natural oils are allowed on the diet but not be cooked.

Ultimately, the theory behind the alkaline diet is that when the body is too acidic, it becomes a breeding ground for illness and disease. Eating alkaline foods, on the other hand, can help to neutralize acidity and promote good health.

After learning about Dr. Sebi’s “African Bio Mineral Balance theory” and his methodology of using alkaline vegan foods and electric herbs, and seeing that this works, it now makes so much sense to me.

These alkaline foods and herbs help to alkalize your body which promotes returning your body from its acidic state to a more alkaline state.

The Dr. Sebi Food List: Does it Work?

While many people may have doubts about the claims of the alkaline diet, I would say it works. I haven’t been sick in years since adopting this lifestyle (yes, it’s a lifestyle!). And what more? energy levels for me are increasing daily, despite advancing in age. And you just kinda feel so good about yourself. So, you can do it.

If you want to start with this food list, I recommend taking it slow and easy as you begin. You can transition from leaving out meat first, and then slowly to fish and eggs, and dairy.

I find that meat and dairy were the easiest for me to stop overnight. Took a while before I finally gave up fish and other seafood. Yes, and then cutting out all processed foods. Store-bought bread and cereals were hard to give up.

Dr. Sebi’s vegetable list is pretty straightforward: eat what grows on land and in the sea. According to Dr. Sebi approved alkaline vegetables include but are not limited to greens like amaranth greens, dandelion, arugula, kale, and watercress. It also includes veggies like onions, avocados, cucumber, and mushrooms.

In addition, sea vegetables are included in the list like seaweed, kelp, and nori.

Now, you might argue that this list is too restrictive, but Dr. Sebi says that these are the only vegetables that are truly alkaline and electric and that will help to cleanse and detoxify your body.

Anyway, let’s take a look at the list:

  • Amaranth greens – same as Callaloo, a variety of Spinach

Dr. Sebi Fruit list

Dr. Sebi Alkaline Diet Food List [Free pdf Download] - Alkaline Vegan Lounge (3)

(No canned fruits or Seedless fruits)

Dr. Sebi inspired many people to change their eating habits for the better. His unique approach to food and nutrition emphasizes eating natural, unprocessed foods that are alkaline-forming. This helps to create a healthy internal environment and promote overall well-being.

The Dr. Sebi fruit list is a great resource for those with a sweet tooth looking to transition to a healthier diet. The list includes a wide variety of fruits, 100% seeded (No seedless fruits please :), and that are all alkaline-forming.

Canned fruits aren’t approved either and I can’t say much for frozen fruits. However, there are also a few other “exotic” or “rare” fruits on the list, such as soursops and burro bananas.

Dr. Sebi’s list of approved fruits includes:

  • Apples
  • Bananas – baby banana or the burro/mid-size
  • Berries – all varieties- Elderberries in any form – no cranberries
  • Cantaloupe
  • Cherries
  • Currants
  • Dates
  • Figs
  • Grapes -seeded
  • Limes (key limes preferred with seeds)
  • Mango
  • Melons -seeded
  • Orange (Seville or sour preferred, difficult to find)
  • Papayas
  • Peaches
  • Pears
  • Plums
  • Prickly Pear (Cactus Fruit) – (added)
  • Prunes
  • Raisins -seeded
  • Soft Jelly Coconuts (and coconut oil)
  • Soursops – (Latin or West Indian markets)
  • Sugar apples (chermoya) – (removed)
  • Tamarind – (added)

Update: Sugar apples, originally approved, is no longer part of the list. Also, pineapples are not approved.

While this fruit list is pretty short, that doesn’t mean you should be skimping on your daily recommended intake of fruits and even veggies. After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away… right?

Now, in all seriousness, incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet is always a good idea. And, lucky for you, there are plenty of delicious options to choose from that Dr. Sebi approves of.

So, next time you’re at the grocery store, be sure to pick up some of these tasty fruits. My favorites are burro bananas, soursops, berries (blackberries, strawberries), mangos, papayas, and watermelons (seeded of course!).

Bon appetit 🙂

(New Section added by Dr. Sebi) Limit the use of oils

Most people think of oil as something that’s bad for you, but there are actually a few oils that can be beneficial for your health. But that depends on what type of oil, how it was produced (cold pressed or hot pressed) and method of cooking/preparation.

Although Dr. Sebi approved oils are approved from only god-made and natural plants/seeds, he cautionws us to limit the excessive use of oils. In addition, Dr. sebi’s dietary protocol must be observed for certain kinds of approved oils. For example, olive oil and coconut oil are not to be cooked.

So, if you must use oil for frying or cooking, then sesame oil or grapeseed oil is preferred. These oils have higher smoke point.

Some of the most popular oils on the list include olive oil, which is known for its heart-healthy benefits, and coconut oil, which is said to boost metabolism and help with weight loss. There are also a number of lesser known oils on the list, such as hemp oil and flaxseed oil, which offer their own unique health benefits.

The4 list of Dr. Sebi approved oils include:

  • Olive Oil (Do not cook)
  • Coconut Oil (Do not cook)
  • Grapeseed Oil (added)
  • Sesame Oil (added)
  • Hempseed Oil (added)
  • Avocado Oil (added)

With these oils to choose from, it can be tough to know where to start. However, by taking the time to learn about the different oils on the Dr. Sebi list, you can find the one that best fits your needs and start reaping the health benefits that they have to offer.
