Create A Wave Of Change With A Sexy Hair Weave Style

Just like no two heads of hair are the same, no two weave styles are created equally either. There are many hair weave styles on the market and while there are similarities in the fact that all weaves have natural movement and don’t shed and tangling and that they come in curly, wavy, or straight textures, there are loads more differences. Read on for the inside scoop on weaves.

Five Reasons To Choose Hair Weaves

  • You can wear it long, tie it up, shake it up, or leave it loose
  • Low Maintenance
  • Fabulous while growing your natural hair and creating length
  • A great protective style for your natural hair
  • Makes starting your hair growth journey and hair-line recovery manageable

Questions To Ask Yourself Before A Weave

  • Do you want it long or short? The desired length determines how many inches you buy. 10 to 12 inches is about shoulder length on most people. For more on hair length, have a look at thishair length chart.
  • Consider your hair type. If you plan on leaving some of your hair out and blending it with the weave, that may determine what type of hair you get.
  • Take into consideration the style you want. Do you want to wear the hair straight most of the time? Do you want hair that you can wear straight and curly? At Tymeless Hair we only stock 100 percent human hair weaves.
  • You also want to get a colour that is the same colour as your natural hair. However, if you are getting a full or closure weave then the texture and colour won’t matter.
  • What is your price range? In general, you get what you pay for so the more you spend generally the better the quality.
  • How long do you want it to last? If you are looking for something long-term you invest in100 percent human hair. The hair can be coloured, cut, heat styled, and chemically treated. This is due to the hair cuticles being intact (they all run in the same direction), which prevents tangling and shedding.
  • Ask your stylist whether your weave comes with a guarantee.

How Often Must I Change My Weave?

Full head weaves and tracks should be touched up every2 to 4 weeks. You should also leave a2 to 4 weekgap in-between weaves and it’s essential to have conditioning treatments done before, during and after your weave.

The maximum length of time you should wear a hair weave style is four months. This time-frame even applies if your weave still looks good. Your hair underneath is the main concern and the longer you leave it, the more you risk knotting, breaking, and dreading your own natural hair, which can lead to hair breakage and hair loss.

Ifyour hairand scalp aren’t in great condition then aweavecould in fact do more harm than good, as it could weigh down and pull onyour hair.

Always have a professional hair technician install your weave for peace of mind.

Different Types Of Weaves

Tymeless Hair & Wigs stocks European and Indian hair weaves. The hair has all its cuticles intact, running in the same direction from root to tip. As a result, our virgin hair has all the attributes of natural flowing hair. It wears and washes with ease.

Indian vs European Hair

Indian hair originates from India or is similar to hair typically found in India. Indian Hair is typically naturally airy, light, and bouncy and can easily be styled and curled. The hair moves effortlessly with minimal products. It also blends with most hair textures. You can find Indian Hair ranging from silky to lightly coarse. Indian hair comes in a variety of styles such as straight, wavy, and tight curly. Because it is dense, it is a good match for ethnic women’s hair textures.

European hair is mostly collected from Caucasian donors. The hair strands have a silky and soft texture. The hair is naturally strong and tangle-free. It is great if you want to wear your hair straight and is versatile.

Different Colour Weaves: Ombre & Balayage

If you’re looking for amazing colour, we offer a range of coloured hair weaves, as well as a variety of other beautifulombré and balayageweaves.

In the hair colour world, ombré is a dramatic, two-toned hair colour effect that is typically darker at the top and lighter on the bottom. Often the dark, top section is your natural hair colour shade and the bottom section is lightened with hair lightener.

An ombré hairstyle can also be any colour combination – natural blonde, brown or red, or something unconventional like pink, blue, green or purple.

On the other hand, balayagehighlights are hand-painted or swept along the surface of the hair. The application begins away from the roots and gradually becomes heavier as it travels along the section, culminating in the heaviest application of lightener or hair colour at the ends. Because the hair colour or lightener is concentrated on the surface of each section, the underside remains darker, which gives the hair a very natural, dimensional effect.

The resulting subtle balayage hairstyle mimics a natural, sun-kissed effect. Click herefor more on our 100% real hair bundles.

How Are Weaves Applied?

Just like hair extensions, weaves can be applied in many ways. Some application methods use a needle and thread, some use hot glue. As you would imagine, each has its pros and cons.

It can be tricky deciding which method to use, which is why it’s important to discuss in length what each method entails with your hairstylist.

The most common method used to insert a weave is sew-in:

You’ll take the sealed portion of the extension and weave a needle and thread into the area where the hair seals together. Then, you sew the extensions onto the tracks to secure them in the client’s hair.

With asew-in, your natural hair is tucked away, so it requires very little upkeep. Watch how the sew-in method is is donehere.

How To Wash Your Weave

  • Speak to your hairstylist about investing in a brush specifically designed for different hair weave styles to help prevent breakage.

  • Use a width comb and gently comb through the weave to loosen any knots or tangles.

  • Use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner every second or third day. Washing your hair daily strips it of natural oils and can cause your hair to be limp and greasy. You can use over-the-counter shampoos or salon shampoos. The important thing is using a sulfate-free product.

  • Wash the weave starting from top to bottom by gently massaging the shampoo into it. You must keep the hair straight while washing it. This helps avoid causing matting and tangling. Don’t forget underneath your hair.

  • Use a good quality conditioner and leave it in for the recommended time before rinsing out.

  • Gently towel dry the hair by blotting it – never rub or pull at the hair as hair is especially vulnerable when wet. Dry naturally or with a hair drying on a low heat setting.

Weave Care Tips

  • Don’t plait your hair if your hairline is weak and your natural hair is already damaged.
  • Wash, condition, and moisturise your scalp and natural hair before any hair weave style application.
  • You’ll feel a bit of discomfort for the first few days after you have your hair done but the plaits should not be so tight that you’re in pain. The tightness can eventually weaken your natural hair and cause hairline breakage so ask your hairdresser to go easy.
  • Cover your head with a silk scarf when sleeping, or use a silk or satin pillowcase to prevent tangling and hairline breakage caused by the friction when your head rubs against your pillow.
  • Use a sheen spray to prevent synthetic fibre from matting.
  • Shampoo and condition your hair every week or two and make sure it’s completely dry to avoid mould.
  • If you work up a sweat, spritz antiseptic spray to prevent a build-up of bacteria, which can cause diseases on the scalp.
  • After removal, give your natural hair a break and avoid chemical treatments, weaves, or braids for a week or so.
